Swedish packaging network Packbridge selected PopPack LLC as the winner of its packaging award for ‘Best Idea in the OpenUp Challenge’, a competition that showcases innovative solutions to improve packaging. PopPack won on account of its intelligent solution to eliminate ‘wrap rage’ and accessible design.

PopPack’s innovation is targeted at packaging for food, healthcare products, and household consumer goods. By ‘popping’ the air bubble in the seal, the package then opens and can be used as a lever to easily open both flexible and semi-rigid packages. The company states that its packages can never be torn or ripped but instead re-closed in order to preserve food and product freshness.

“This winner expressed a creative new way to open flexible packages. When the PopPack bubble is popped, the release of air ruptures the package’s seal. This makes it easy for an individual to open the package without tearing, ripping or using scissors or knives. This is a very smart solution, providing assurance that the contents are fresh, well-sealed and have not been tampered, while at the same time easy to open and reclose,” said the Packbridge jury.

PopPack is a US-based company focusing on solutions for consumer packaging. It works closely with a team of consultant engineers in Japan to develop its products.
